Earlier on this year, I attended my first ever Disney On Ice spectacular at the Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham. This was the 25th anniversary celebration performance that they released tickets for and I couldn’t wait to see how it would be conducted. I have decided to write my review on this particular show now, simply because I saw an advertisement for Disney On Ice Frozen and it’s the perfect time of year to tell you all about the magic I witnessed…
The venue was perfect! I have to say, this is the first time I have attended a show at the Motorpoint and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff, the capacity inside and the transformation of the ice rink below us. With a vast capacity of 10,000, the venue was packed full of mini princesses and princes, plus me and my sister (aged 24 and 21).
The show was hosted by Disney classics: Donald, Daisy and of course, Minnie and Mickey Mouse. They themed it around the four of them going on holiday and skating around, packing their suitcases and jetting off to the likes of Neverland, Africa, Under the Sea and Arendelle.
As you can imagine all the mini princesses and princes wanted to see Arendelle come to life. I was quite content with singing along to the Little Mermaid and The Lion King, but I guess that is my age showing.
My favourites to witness on ice were The Little Mermaid and Frozen as they fit the whole ‘ice’ theme perfectly whereas Peter Pan and the Lion King were a little difficult to capture in this location.
I think Disney On Ice is a great alternative for children or Disney obsessives (like myself) to go to when money is low and you can’t quite afford the flights and tickets to Disneyland Paris or Walt Disney World, Florida. The characters pretty much come to life right before your eyes and the sets are amazing, some of the children were even selected from the crowd to take a boat trip on the ice with several of the characters.
Frozen On Ice is on sale now for Motorpoint Arena and will run from November 16 to 20. Tickets are between £20.16 and £51.52. For more information on tickets, dates and venues please visit Frozen On Ice.
