Every weekday morning, Philip ‘silver-fox’ Schofield and Holly Willough’booby’ grace our TV screens to deliver the much-loved morning TV programme, This Morning.
So when I received complimentary This Morning Live tickets, I knew it would be a day my Mum would be thrilled to experience.
Here’s what my Mum made of the event held at Birmingham’s NEC from 18 – 21 May…
“When Daisy gave me the tickets to This Morning Live 2017, I was extremely excited. I read up on the ‘Live’ experience and was excited to see there was stalls offering the latest advice on home interior and garden trends, a live catwalk show hosted by This Morning’s Trinny, delicious food stalls and of course, live highlights from the people that make the show so great.
The first area we went to was the Home, Garden and Pets section.
The floor was coloured differently for each section, which made it really easy to navigate yourself around the huge NEC, so we found our way to the sections very easily. This area was in partnership with Everest and was full of garden tools, outdoor furniture, quirky home buys and also a dedicated area for dog-owners. Alison Hammond was presenting a live segment in this area and we got the chance to say ‘hello’ and have a little chin-wag (she was really lovely, and had a wonderfully uplifting laugh).
Each week on This Morning viewers get to witness the best buys and hottest trends from the high street. There was a live catwalk show hosted on the main stage by the marmite (love or hate her) Trinny Woodall. This catwalk was brought to visitors by eBay and showcased fashionable items from the high street but also boutique brands. The stands had some great items, but some quite generic items which weren’t really worthy of stopping for. However, the guys managing the stands were full of knowledge and happy to share top tips on what trends would suit your figure best. They were extremely personal and it made the experience extremely useful.
We all love discovering a new beauty purchase – don’t we? This area was definitely the busiest on the day and was showcasing all the latest beauty products ranging from skincare items, make-up and wellbeing products that keep you feeling on top of the world. I purchased several items in this area and some for my Daughter (so I can’t say what as she may receive one or two for Christmas). I didn’t get a makeover on the day, but several stands were offering them free-of-charge to showcase how their products work. Dr Ranj was on hand for a parenting SOS live chat, plus we also got a sneaky picture opportunity with him (really friendly guy and very knowledgeable).
As soon as we walked into this area we saw Masterchef’s John Torode (who I am quite a big fan of), so this immediately made me excited to go check out the live cooking show.
We got talking to a national crisp company that promotes thicker, fatter and more-calorific crisps – SLABS. They were so friendly and gave us some treats to review at a later date (the review will be up shortly). This area definitely quenched our appetites before going to see Holly and Phil present live from the main stage.
Finally, we watched Holly, Phil and Rylan talk about the events of the day from the main stage.
Rylan was a huge hit amongst the visitors and was happy to sit and sign autographs for people (we didn’t fancy this).
Holly and Phil were great on stage and not nervous one bit considering they were surrounded by a live audience who were cheering and shouting-out questions.
The event was flawless considering it was a brand new experience for all. The stands on the day were all relevant to the audience and showcased top of the range items, plus the people on them were extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely go again next year and would recommend for any silver fox fans too.
Thanks This Morning and Daisy xoxo”
