I’m lucky that my children love books as much as me so they don’t need too much encouragement. I’ve read to them everyday since they were born
We buy loads of books and we always read before bed, they love it.
We love books in our house and I try to encourage my children to read at every opportunity x

We actually found an encyclopedia of dinosaurs his favourites, and we started reading the captions, as it was a childs encyclopedia he soon picked it up
I have always been a bookworm and thankfully my daughter is exactly the same! Ever since she was a baby I have read to her and encouraged her to love books.

I’m very lucky that my little ones already show a huge interest in books and have done from a young age, I will always encourage this as reading is very important, we take trips to the Library for new books, bedtime stories and for the younger ones we pick out the colourful ones that grab their attention

I’ve never had to encourage my children to read. We are bookworms, we read a lot and there are always plenty of books in the house. We visit the library and book shops regularly. I think when children are surrounded by readers and see others enjoying books it just comes naturally

My children love getting their books out so its not normally a struggle to get them to have a story. They are both unable to read as they are only young but by having story time with them it will encourage them to learn to read. They like to look at the pictures and then tell me what they think is happening in the story.
Let him choose the books that we read and make a regular time each day for reading.
My children have a reading reward system at school so I’ve started to use it at home too, if they read every evening for a week they get to choose a place to go the following weekend x
Regularly read together. Choose books together, etc. Keep it interesting, entertaining and fun, reading can be so beneficial for future life tasks / commitments, etc.
Well I’ve been quite lucky that my daughter enjoys reading but I encourage her by reading lots with her x

We try and make it as fun as possible, making up voices and songs etc as we read.
By not pushing reading on to them it needs to be a normal, natural enjoyable activity otherwise there will be no interest.
