So I’ve been super kindly nominated by The Pretty Perfect blogging awards to answer a few questions on confidence, self-esteem and inner and outer beauty.
The Pretty Perfect blogging award aims to open and widen the perception around beauty experiences and body image and open up the hidden caverns of secret information about confidence, our bodies and how we feel about them. It explores sensitive concepts and pressures such as how to look pretty for a boy, how to look pretty naturally, how tricky it really is to look ‘put together’ and ‘perfect’ and finding great comfort within others’ experiences with beauty and body image. Society heaps pressure on us about the importance of how to look beautiful and attractive everyday, all day, to be worthy of instagram, or to feel accepted by others. The Pretty Perfect project is a celebration of how great we are, breaking down the myths around our bodies to see them in a completely different light and feel the excitement of taking ‘pretty’ into our own hands!

So here is my interview….enjoy!
1. What are your three most favourite features?
- My eyes
- My smile
- My lips
2. Three places I go when I’m feeling good are…
This is a tricky question because I’m a mum so I would more than likely say – the farm, the zoo or our local soft play, however, the places that make me feel good are the hairdressers, the beauticians for lashes and brows, my nail tech and a spa date. I feel like a new woman.
3. Beauty tips and tricks that never worked for me are…
I’ve always struggled with my naturally thin eyebrows. People say don’t pluck your brows and they will grow…I don’t touch my brows and they most definitely do not grow. HELP ANYONE!?
4. In a masterclass for ‘how to look pretty for school’, I would teach…
Stand tall, be confident and do NOT follow the crowd – BE YOUR PRETTY SELF!
5. Three features I feel most insecure about are…
- My stomach
- My boobs
- My feet
6. What would I tell my younger self about 2020 beauty trends?
Don’t worry about the bottom half of your face – it will be covered by a mask majority of the time.
7. One item that helps me to feel and look pretty without makeup is…
Eyelashes – I’m a Hybrid Extension addict.
8. I feel bad for not knowing how to…
Paint nails – my poor daughter is going to be taken to the nail tech as soon as she requests her nails to be painted. I have very shaky hands…
9. The last time I felt insecure was…
I feel insecure on a daily basis, but I realise this isn’t healthy and it needs to change. It will change and I’m working on it…
10. Give someone a piece of beauty advice in one emoji…
(Thumbs up)
11. Where would you go if you felt all-confident?
On a photoshoot – that would really be the most daunting thing for me. I hate pictures being taken, so if I was feeling good then that is where I’d go – fight the fear and all that jazz.
12. My recurring confidence daydream goes like this…
I’m walking around on my wedding day (due to be married next July) feeling happy, content and confident.
13. I feel most powerful when I…
Am hard at work. I am always in my own little bubble when I work, and it’s probably the place where I ooze the most amount of confidence. I know I am good at what I do, and I am extremely proud of that.
14. What memory makes you feel powerful about yourself?
That would be telling 🙂
15. What does pretty feel like to me?
Pretty is all about confidence. If you are confident, and walking around feeling confident, oozing confidence then that is when you are at your prettiest. You are unstoppable.
16. How much does body image affect what I create?
BIG TIME. I have really struggled with body image since becoming a Mum, and gaining weight, new stretch marks and trying to embrace a different body to what I once knew has been hard. If I was asked to take a selfie or showcase an item of clothing, then I simply wouldn’t do it…it has completely held me back. Today, I am much more confident, happy and I WILL NOT be held back by my own fears.
