I can’t actually believe that my second trimester has come to an end – where is the time going? When I was expecting with Belle, the time just seemed to go on and on, but this time round it is going unbelievably fast – scarily so.
So, the first trimester was full of lots and lots of tiredness, and I have a feeling my third is going to be pretty similar, however, my second trimester was just the best. The glow appeared, the proudness of having my little girl safely cooking away inside me and the overall happiness that comes when you’re expecting a new bundle of joy. I had all of that and more (I will get on to this…).
This trimester we found out we are having another little GIRL, although if I am being completely honest – I did guess that she was a beautiful little girl in there. As they say, a mother just knows (although that is complete bullshit as I never ever guessed a girl with Belle and called her Tommy the whole way through the pregnancy). Yes, yes, our boy name was going to be Tommy, but it is highly likely that we will never have a boy now (we are 99% sure that this will be our last). We have our girl’s name selected, but only because Belle got given a doll at Christmas and named her doll this random name, and I took a real liking to it. I said it to Wes, and that was it – ****** was decided upon.

The glow has returned this trimester, and I have been feeling so much more excited and less nervous and scared about giving birth and the impending sleep deprivation. However, with any pregnancy there comes the difficulties too, and this time round it involves Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) which is making me walk around like I have stones in my shoes. I anticipate this will get more unbearable this trimester, so I will be seeing an osteopath tomorrow – keep you posted on this.
The midwife has confirmed that they would like me to go for regular growth scans now as Belle was under 6lbs when she was born, so I have a history of having small babies. Let me tell you, so far, she does not feel like a small baby – she don’t half give me a kick, punch and jab – especially at nighttime. Every time I have gone for a scan or a midwife appointment, they have commented on the fact that she doesn’t stay still for very long, so I think we may have another crazy little girl cooking away in there.

Belle is becoming more and more excited, especially as her best friend Emelia has just had her baby sister. So all I hear now is – “When my sister gets here”, “When ****** is here can we…?” and so on and so on. She often gives bump a little kiss and cuddle too, so my excitement at seeing her as a big sister is very real right now. I think I will cry my eyes out…
I’ve turned 31 this trimester, and celebrated Wes’s 40th birthday in Paris. Let me tell you, doing 20,000+ steps one day in Paris was HARD work, but we had the best baby moon and possibly last child-free break for a very long time.
Things I am looking forward to this third and final trimester:
- Our 4D Baby Scan – I can’t wait to compare her picture with Belle’s when she was in the womb
- Finalising her nursery – I will share pictures once it is done
- Creating my birth plan and packing my hospital bag – makes it all a lot more real
- And of course, meeting my girl for the very first time. It makes me get emotional even thinking about it.
I will post about my third trimester in a few weeks time, and then no doubt…I’ll be introducing my girl to you all. Can’t wait!
