Last night, myself and my Mum attended the opening night of ‘Wish You Were Dead’ at Milton Keynes Theatre – and it is the first play I’ve ever seen on stage…it didn’t disappoint either.

The Peter James stage adaptation of ‘Wish You Were Dead’ is based around ‘a holiday from hell’ for married couple – Roy and Cleo Grace. The couple are played by George Rainsford and the amazing Giovanna Fletcher (who I was super excited to see on stage), as they arrive in the south of France to a rather strange château, alongside their son baby Noah and nanny Kaitlynn, played by Gemma Stroyan.
The nanny’s boyfriend, Jack, has not turned up to the château, which begins to make the characters a little suspicious of their host Madame L’Eveque, and her father Curtis played by the incredibly talented Clive Mantle. Clive is amazing throughout, and ends act 1 in the most dramatic way possible (I won’t give away too much of the story).
The set is designed amazingly and definitely gives off a creepy old-style house with a suit of armour on display, and lots of dead animal heads everywhere. There is also the sound effects of a storm going on, so that certainly adds to the suspense of the show throughout.
It’s a really great play, and one that I would highly recommend seeing whilst it is touring at Milton Keynes Theatre.
