The Drifter’s Girl tells the remarkable story of one of the greatest vocal groups and the woman who made it all happen.
The show opened at Garrick Theatre in London’s West End in November 2021, and now it continues to amaze audiences on its first UK tour.
The cast includes Carly Mercedes Dyer (who plays Faye Treadwell), former star of hit musical ‘Six’, Ashford Campbell, former ITV The XFactor star and co-member of The Risk, Miles Anthony Daley, Tarik Frimpong and Dalton Harris, who won The XFactor in 2018. So as you can only imagine – the voices were incredible.
The tale tells the truth about the woman who created The Drifters. Faye is the legendary manager of the group, and fought for three decades along with her husband to turn Atlantic Records’ hottest vocal group into the global phenomenon that they so rightly become.
The tale involves highs and lows throughout their sell-out tours, hit records making an impact and also her personal tragedy. Faye was the first African-American female music manager – and her story is one of pure inspiration. Thirty years and hundreds of top hits layers – she is now recognised as – The Drifters Girl.
Of course, the best part is the amazing performances of the famous songs that made history – including, Save The Last Dance For Me, Under The Boardwalk, Kissin In The Back Row Of The Movies, Stand By Me and my personal favourite – Saturday Night At The Movies (plus loads more).
