My love story began when I swiped right. It doesn’t sound romantic, but it’s a love story none-the-less. My love story.
I found love on a dating app.
I didn’t find love going on drunken nights out and making a fool of myself.
I didn’t find love bumping into somebody in my local supermarket or aimlessly wandering around a library. As a child I always dreamt this was how I’d meet my soulmate.
I found love the modernised way, and more and more of my friends are finding their partners this way too.
Dating has adapted to the world we now live in, and it is as simple as turning your phone on and choosing how, when and why you want to meet somebody. You can even limit it down to what hobbies people are into.
I turned my phone on and spoke to new people every single day when I was casually dating in 2015. Some people I connected with and others I switched off from within a few seconds. I went on really good dates, and several very bad dates, but they all left me with memories, laughter and sometimes a life lesson.

Casual dating was fun and exactly what I was after. I had a very bad break-up with somebody and just wanted to get to know new people. I met people that I have never spoken to again, and some that I am now friends with and regularly catch-up with. I also met my lifelong partner, but that was because I’d reached a point of wanting something a bit more grounded.
We all want that grounding relationship at different times in our lives, but for many of us after a break-up, we just want to let our hair down. I am now living with my partner in our very own house and have an 8 month old daughter with him. So what may seem like casual dating, can definitely become more serious when the time is right.
