2019 is all about me becoming ME again. I gave birth to my beautiful and amazing daughter Belle in May 2018, and although it has made me the best possible person; I lost my glow. The sleep deprivation. The post-baby weight. The stopped thinking about myself and focused on solely my daughter and her wellbeing.
This year, I have set myself a challenge to feel more like ME again and not just ‘Mummy to Belle’. I have put together some really amazing techniques, products and tips for helping anybody else out there regain that glow. This is by no means a way of forgetting about being a parent, because that will never happen. My daughter will always be my number one priority, and comes before me ALWAYS. It’s a way of showing that you can still be YOU and a MUM, it’s just about getting that healthy balance back into action. It also helps getting support in all the right places, including your mum role, work role and blogging/online role.
Here are some of the products and methods I have been using to get that shine back:
- Drop a dress size hypnosis by Ailsa Frank – £9.99 from www.ailsafrank.com – This hypnosis download will help you get into a positive ‘Drop a Dress Size’ mindset. Many people want to reduce their size so they can fit comfortably into clothes but lack the motivation. This recording will reset your subconscious mind to release old eating and lifestyle habits which could be holding you back. By listening daily, to this 10-minute track, you can create new positive healthy habits to keep you focussed to reduce your clothes size and keep the weight off. I listen to it before I go to sleep, and this is realistically the best time for me to switch off from the busy day of changing nappies and running around after my daughter. This gives me ten minutes before bed to switch off, be mindful and motivate myself for another manic day ahead.
- Pukka Castor Oil – £9.95 from www.pukkaherbs.com – It’s not just your skin that looks tired sometimes, but your hair too. Castor oil is something I have always heard of but never used personally. It’s one of the best kept beauty secrets and those who use it tend to say it makes their skin, hair, lashes and eyebrows look and feel healthier and fuller. This oil is made from castor seeds, vitamin e products and unsaturated fatty acids like omega-6. Since using this oil I have noticed: my hair has grown back, my lashes feel stronger when I wipe my make-up off at night and my brows are finallllyyyy starting to thicken up.
- Zenflore – £29.99 from www.precisionbiotics.com – Gluten free. Dairy free. Soya free. Just full of goodness. These supplements provide natural support for your mind and body during busy and demanding times. Juggling motherhood and work can be very tricky, but these supplements have helped me to stay charged, focused, energised and on-the-ball. I have had some really lethargic days due to being up from 3am to 9pm, and having to play mummy all day long and then catch-up on my work in the evening. These supplements have ensured that I stay focused, happy and reduced fatigue noticeably.
- Miso Easy Soups – £1.50 from Waitrose – It’s my health go-to for when I have very little time to think about filling my tum. For soups, marinades or salad dressings just add hot water. At just 21 calories per serving, they have helped me stay full for longer periods of time, but on track with the post baby weight loss. They are Gluten free. High in protein. No artificial flavours or colours. Suitable for vegans and do the job.
- ‘Cut the crap and feel amazing’ by Ailsa Frank – £10.99 from www.ailsafrank.com – If you love reading as much as I do then this book will give you a bit of downtime but also handy techniques to get you in the right mindset. This motivating book includes methods on how to stick to diets in the addictions chapter and mind coaching to stick to exercise plans. It’s a great way to refocus, recharge and have 10-30 minutes you time and organisation of life goals.

We are two months into the year, and I am already reaping the benefits of having a bit of downtime, reading more, blogging more, working out, getting my 10,000 steps in a day and most of all, feeling happy with who I am. I am a mum, but I am also Daisy. A working mum. A bookworm. A PR Specialist. A lifestyle blogger. A travel maniac.
