One thing many people don’t know about me is…I found love online. I am not a millennial, and neither is my partner but we both adapted to the norm of our time and took to online dating, and hey presto – it worked. One kitten, one mortgage and one beautiful baby later and we are the evidence that online dating is not always seedy, deceptive or a nightmare. My love story began online and so could yours!
Dating online can be anywhere and everywhere, and I specifically remember joining a dating app (before I met my partner obviously) whilst travelling with a group of friends. We had decided to go on a mini break to Cornwall, so I decided to search Cornwall Dating Site and see what the local single talent was saying.

I became so excited by the concept of meeting so many incredible, interesting new people from all over the country; wherever I went I decided to speak to local singles online. It sometimes worked, and I have made some incredible friends from these sites, and of course sometimes it definitely didn’t work in my favour.
One bad experience was of course, a catfish and a big one at that. This one guy said he was 25 years old and a law student, but ended up being 35 and a chef. I couldn’t quite work that one out either, but we laughed it off and I made a very swift exit with my friends who secretly attended the same bar too.
The good definitely outweighs the bad and that’s evident as I’ve met this incredible human. So let me tell you about the best experience I had with online dating…

I received a message from Wes back in 2016, and we started doing the whole general chit chat, quite boring generic questions and he started to make suggestive remarks about me coming over to his and baking a cake. It’s fair to say I stopped replying and thought he was another bad egg. However, several months later he messaged again and it was a completely different conversation. We found out just how much we have in common; Sinatra fans, birthdays a day apart, same favourite cuisine and really scarily alike in our mannerisms. We decided we didn’t want to wait any longer, and we set a date for the following evening. I walked into the bar half hour late (I got lost on my way to the bar, but Wes will tell you I was an hour late) and I immediately felt something I hadn’t with anybody else. We drank two coffees each and sat laughing, chatting and sharing our opinions on anything and everything. I knew I liked him, so the first kiss took place and I drove home in a complete daydream. Could this guy be the one? Well three years later, and I would certainly say I have found my one and only. He’s been the best, kindest, most sincere and completely drop dead gorgeous match for me, and if it wasn’t for online dating then I don’t think our paths would have ever crossed.
So for those of you that are sceptical about it all – don’t be. Of course, stay safe like you would with face to face dating but just open your eyes to all the possibilities and start something amazing like I did. True love does exist and sometimes it’s a spark waiting to reach your phone screen away. T
