I was a snob when it came down to the word ‘cannabis’. I know there are many other people in this country that are too, but are perhaps not looking further into the plant.
I was completely oblivious as to what makes cannabis a drug and didn’t know the ins and outs of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). So in this little feature, I am going to explore what THC is and why cannabis has a bad rep, but all the positives CBD Oil has for many many people, including myself.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol is a natural remedy and is better known as CBD, and it is 1 of over 100 chemicals found in the marijuana plant. THC is a psychoactive cannabinoid chemical found within the plant, and this is the element that makes cannabis a drug. It can make people feel ‘high’ and hallucinate. It is extremely important when using CBD infused products that it doesn’t contain any elements of THC otherwise you would prove positive on a drugs test and the side effects would be evident.
So CBD oil is extracted from the plant and diluted to create a health and wellbeing product that is completely safe, and helps aid ailments like anxiety, stress and chronic pain.
Here are 5 benefits to using CBD oil:
- Reduce anxiety and depression: These are hugely common mental health disorders, and I myself suffer from anxiety. Depression is being spoken about a lot more openly in today’s society, but the natural medication on offer to treat the disorder is still not being recommended enough. For me this is what makes CBD oil so exciting. I used to suffer with regular panic attacks, and only recently I have stopped getting them but I know that one bad day can trigger a week or month of getting them again. CBD oil helps people feel relaxed, much more at ease and acts on the brain receptors.
- Can alleviate cancer related symptoms : CBD oil can help those with cancer and reduce symptoms such as sickness, pain and headaches. These are the most common symptoms for those going through chemo-therapy.
- Reduce acne: If you have never suffered with acne then count yourself lucky. Many of us suffer with the occasional blemish or spot, but some people who have suffered with acne swear by using CBD oil on their skin for breakout reduction.
- Benefit your heart: The ability to lower blood pressure is being spoken about more and more by users of CBD oil. For anybody who suffers with a higher blood pressure will know that the risk of heart attacks, strokes and metabolic syndrome are a lot higher. CBD oil is supposed to help due to its anti-stress properties.
- Reduce chronic pain: For people that have chronic pain due to an illness or accident, then CBD oil supposedly works a treat (I cannot comment for certain as I am not a doctor or nor have I used to treat myself). There are several cases where people say that the pain has completely gone away and their ease of life has returned making them happier and able to live a better lifestyle.
CBD oil comes in lots of different forms such as Good Soul UK’s chocolate balls, lozenges, oil and the list goes on and on. If you haven’t tried CBD oil before then give it a try if you suffer with chronic pain, depression, anxiety or even if you just have sensitive skin.

I have to make clear that this post is not written by a health expert or a doctor but myself. This post is an opinionated blog on what makes CBD oil beneficial in my own eyes.
