One of our post lockdown days out and treats was a trip to one of our local farms – Herrings Green Activity Farm and Birds of Prey Centre.
We’ve never been before and it is just a small farm that has opened its doors back up to small family groups, at timed intervals during the day. This opportunity allows visitors to visit a safe environment for some much needed family fun time. Every hour, the farm allows up to 12 families to book in every hour for a two hour visit (there are two sections – so 1 hour in the farm area and 1 hour in the birds of prey area).
During your visit you can say hello to the highland cows, ponies, goats, rabbits, guineas pigs, alpacas including the new baby (Belle’s favourite), chickens, turkeys, parrots, wallaby and you can even meet some of the new baby goats.
Included in your ticket cost is a bag of animal food so you can interact with the animals during your visit too. Once you’ve spent an hour in the first farm area, you will get to spend an hour with the beautiful birds of prey, and with just under 200 birds, there are plenty to see.
The times you can book are:
10am – 12pm
11:15am – 1:15pm
12:30 – 2:30pm
1:45 – 3:45pm
3 – 5pm
You MUST book in advance with a deposit of £5, and the overall cost is £10 per adult and £7 per child (under 3 years go free) at the weekend, and £30 for a family of up to 6 people during the week.
There are several other experiences you can book at Herrings Green Activity Farm such as goat walking, alpacas walks, photography experiences and yoga in the alpaca field.
We loved being back out and about, and would highly recommend a visit if you live locally to Bedfordshire.
