It’s called love, actually.
Please note this is a collaboration post.
2020 hasn’t been kind for our singles hoping to meet a new partner this year. Plus, disabled dating is something that has been particularly harder to achieve.
The pandemic has left many people up and down the country feeling isolated. It has also led to more loneliness.

To date safely using the powers of the internet is something that needs to be addressed. There are far too many scary stories out there about online dating, but it’s not all doom and gloom. I dated online for years, and eventually found my soulmate using a dating app. We are now engaged, in our family home and have a 2 year old daughter. So let’s take the positives and roll with them…
Dating is inclusive – it’s for everyone and anyone to enjoy, but something that sometimes can seem daunting, especially to those with disabilities or anxiety.
Dating with a disability doesn’t have to be uncomfortable, unsafe or nerve-wrecking though. And 2020 has taught us that more than ever. For example, an amputee dating app can help thousands of people up and down the country meet others who share the same life experience as themselves, or perhaps someone who they can connect with mutually. 2020 has taught us – we never have to stand alone, and let’s ensure that 2021 is the year for positivity, change and a time to never ever feel alone no matter who we are, where we come from or our backstory.
Dating is fun – and this should be the case for everyone. Dating online can be daunting, but to ensure it is done safely please follow these top tips.
Safety Tips for finding Love Actually Online:
- Use apps/websites that cater to your personal needs – don’t just sign up for a generic dating site. Look into which ones cater to your personal needs, or perhaps a local one so that you can meet someone within your selected mileage.
- Be clear on what you are looking for – dating doesn’t have to be for love, it’s actually a lot more vast than that. Some elderly people are looking for a companion, and some are looking for a more relaxed relationship that doesn’t involve titles. Be clear on who/what you are looking for before you set out on your dating mission.
- Tell people around you what you are doing – make sure you speak to friends and family about what you are doing. Not only will they be able to help you get your profile set up, but they will enjoy hearing all your dating stories. It’s also a great way of feeling safe when dating online. Don’t keep it a secret.
- Don’t waste your time or others. If someone speaks to you or tries engaging with you, but they are not within the area you wish to seek a relationship then be honest. There is no harm in being truthful, and it will save a lot of unnecessary conversations too.
- Have fun – dating is supposed to be fun, and I have many happy, funny and even some bizarre dating memories. It’s all about discovering who you are. Discovering what you want, who you like and making new connections. Be that a new friend or two, or a special love connection. Whatever the outcome, we want it to be a positive one, especially for the new year of 2021.
