When I heard one of my favourite musicals of all time was making its way to Milton Keynes Theatre, I couldn’t wait to see how the stage adaptation would play out for fans like myself.

The hit musical film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John is 46 years old now, and the fourth highest-grossing live-action musical of all time. I have vivid childhood memories of singing the songs with my siblings, and acting out the role of the beloved Sandy, whilst my brother gelled up his hair, and screamed GREASE LIGHTNIN!
It’s just iconic, and I could not have been more excited to see the stage show at Milton Keynes Theatre yesterday evening.
The hit song – Grease is the Word opens the show, and 100% gets you into the mood for the rest of the show. Each song is sung amazingly, with a few new ones not from the original film.
Marley Fenton as Danny and Hope Dawe as Sandy are the perfect duo, and I could not pinpoint just one of them to say who did a better performance. They both compliment one another vocally, acting and even their presence on stage. Rebecca Stenhouse plays Betty Rizzo and was without a doubt – my favourite (she’s also my favourite in the film the older I have got), but all the roles are played perfectly, and you won’t know where to cast you eyes.
It’s a brilliant, modernised take on the film musical – and one that I would highly recommend you go to see if you are fans of the iconic film.
