It’s that time of the year where we start thinking about going back to school (and for us parents – we do start counting down around now too!). I have always found it really useful when other people put together checklists of things to remember to purchase, so I wanted to offer my readers the same.
AD – Please note some items in this blog were gifted to me, but all thoughts are my own.
Back to School We Go – Checklist
Here are some absolute essentials to add to your ‘back to school’ checklist this summer:
- School Polos – I always get a mixed selection – some of ours this year are from George, ASDA and some of them are from Marks & Spencers.
- Jumpers/Cardigans – We’ve got ours from the school’s personal website. Many schools offer this service for logo jumpers/cardigans (which I personally prefer), but there are lots of cheaper alternatives.
- School Shoes – Last year we went through three different pairs of shoes, so this year I was extremely fussy with what ones we wanted. These particular ones are from Start-Rite – and they are such high quality, feel really robust, but I guess the proof will be in a terms time.

- Dresses
- Shorts/Skirts
- Vests – Preparing for the colder weather heading our way.
- Socks/Tights – You can never ever have too many socks. We get through about three multi-packs per term, and the same with tights. I give it a day before she comes home with a hole in one of the legs.
- Water Bottles – We love a non-leak water bottle that isn’t too bulky for our daughter’s book bag. This one from LittleLife is perfect, and our standard go-to.

- Lunch Bag – There are loads of different lunch bags and boxes available, but Dunelm has a great collection in their SMASH range. They are really affordable and have cute designs for all children to choose from. We love their sandwich boxes too – it helps to keep the sandwich as fresh and presentable as possible. Nobody wants a soggy sandwich!

- We also prepare for the winter moths, so make sure we have a raincoat/hats/scarves and gloves all prepared for when that colder weather does make an appearance. Our favourite purchases this year were – Spotty Otter’s Fleece Lined Splashsuit and Little Hotdog Watson’s Arctic Panda Pop Hat.
