When you’ve got a deck around your home, you’ll want to make it look and feel as nice as possible. That’s especially true when you’ve had it a while and it starts to look rundown. It’s easy to see why you’ll want to update your deck, but this doesn’t have to be too hard or time-consuming.
Please note – this is a guest blog placement.
String Up Some Lights
It’s always worth creating an ambiance on your deck, especially during the later hours of the evening when you could want to spend a bit of time on it. One of the best ways to do this is with lighting, with string lights being one of the more interesting options here. They add just the right amount of lighting without being overwhelming.
These are also one of the more affordable options you can go for. By putting them up in the right place, like along the edge of the deck’s ceiling, you’ll end up creating a nicer ambiance than you would’ve thought.
Mix Up Materials
When most people design and install a deck, they use wood for almost everything. While this has its place, it doesn’t mean overlooking other materials. Mixing things up a little could add noticeably more style while still making sure your deck is as functional and comfortable to use as possible.
You’ll even have plenty of options for this, like having a wood base but adding balustrades from a toughened glass supplier, for example. With the right approach, you’ll end up with a noticeably more stylish deck.
Go Green
Adding some greenery to a patio can often be one of the better ways to give it an update, and you’ve no reason not to. It helps bridge the gap between your deck and the rest of the garden while adding a bit more style and texture. It’s one of the more straightforward ways to create an immediate impact.
Having a mix of potted plants could be the better way to go here, as it creates a lot more visual texture and style. You don’t even need to get too many of them to start seeing an impact. It’s just a matter of keeping them watered long-term.
Add a Fire Pit
A fire pit can be a great addition to a deck for more than a few reasons, despite the fact it can be one of the more overlooked areas. While you’ll need to make sure it’s placed right and wouldn’t be able to spread to the rest of your deck, it helps add a focal point to the deck while offering a lot of light and warmth during the winter months.
And, the right fire pit for your design adds quite a bit of style, giving you somewhere you actually want to spend time on the deck. With the right materials under and around your pit, there’s no reason why it should pose a fire risk.
You’ll have countless ways to update your deck, but some of them could have more of an impact. There’s no reason not to consider them.
