Some pieces of jewellery are simply there to complete an outfit, and others mean so much more. My new Star Family Initial Necklace from Lulu + Belle definitely falls into the latter, and it has extremely sentimental value to me too.
I recently had the necklace personalised with the initials of my two girls, Millie and Belle, and it has quickly become one of those pieces I can see myself wearing every single day as a staple item in my jewellery.
A personalised necklace with meaning
What initially drew me to the Star Family Necklace was the sentiment behind its design.
The necklace features a larger disc engraved with North Stars, alongside smaller, delicate personalised discs. The North Stars are designed to represent a guiding light and purpose in life, which feels particularly special when you’re choosing a necklace to represent your children – they are, my purpose.
You can choose up to four stars for the larger disc and then add the number of personalised discs you need for the little people in your life.
For mine, I chose two personalised initial discs for Millie and Belle, making it uniquely ours.
As a mum, I love jewellery that has a story behind it. Trends come and go, but something connected to your children will never lose its meaning.
Delicate enough for everyday wear
One of my favourite things about the necklace is how beautifully delicate it is.
The larger star disc measures 12mm, while the smaller personalised discs are 8mm, so despite having multiple elements, it doesn’t feel chunky or overpowering.
It’s made using 14kt rolled gold discs with a luxurious 14kt gold-filled chain, which gives it that gorgeous golden finish. The medium-weight chain also feels substantial enough that I don’t constantly worry about it being overly fragile.
The chain adjusts between 16 and 18 inches, which I really appreciate because it lets me change the length depending on what I’m wearing or layer it with other necklaces.
A gorgeous gift idea
At £102, this is definitely more of a special jewellery purchase, but I think the personalisation and meaning behind it make it a particularly lovely gift.
It would be beautiful for a birthday, Mother’s Day, Christmas or even to celebrate becoming a new mum. I also love the idea that you can add another initial disc if your family grows in the future.
A sterling silver version is also available if you prefer silver jewellery to gold.
My verdict
What I love most about my Lulu + Belle Star Family Necklace is that, although it’s a beautiful piece of jewellery in its own right, it means something completely personal to me.
Having Millie and Belle’s initials sitting alongside the North Stars makes the symbolism of them being my little guiding lights feel even more special.
It’s understated, elegant and easy to wear, but it’s also a piece I’ll hopefully still be wearing many years from now.
For me, that’s exactly what personalised jewellery should be: beautiful enough to wear every day and meaningful enough to keep forever.
