Newborn Photoshoot

When my daughter Belle was just two weeks young I arranged a Newborn Photoshoot with Emma Sohl founder of Capture the Light Photography.
Emma captures professional photos of newborns, families and expecting parents in Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes.
Emma’s background revolves around being a professional portrait photographer for the past 11 years. Emma has spent the majority of her time capturing beautiful imagery of babies, children and families, which is why ‘Capture the Light Photography’ was so passionately formed. The local photography market is extremely competitive, but what makes Emma stand out is her personal, friendly and supportive approach. Emma took some beautiful photographs of my bulging bump just several weeks before Belle was born, so I knew we were in very safe hands.
I have booked a ‘Bump to Baby‘ photography package for £95, this includes:
• A maternity Photoshoot that lasts an hour, which can include just you, your partner and yourself or your whole family
• A newborn Photoshoot that lasts three hours, including both portrait and lifestyle photographs
• A 6 month “little sitters” session
• Plus a cake smash Photoshoot around your baby’s first birthday
All sessions include one enlarged print, and the others are available to purchase for a reasonable fee in your gallery reveal appointment.
There are other packages to choose from which range from individual photo shoots for £45. Check them out here.

So how does the newborn Photoshoot work?
When Belle was born and after I’d recovered from the most traumatic but beautiful experience, I informed Emma of my arrival and booked a date in as early as possible to capture the true essence of my new little person.
For the newborn Photoshoot Emma comes out to you, so you and your baby are in the comfort of your own surroundings. Before this though Emma emails a full description of what will take place on the day, and if you have any special requests for fabrics and props that you wish to be captured. As my partner is a tailor, Emma came up with the brilliant idea of including a measuring tape, thimble and thread in some of the images.
Emma is an absolute natural with babies. Belle was being a little bit grouchy and difficult throughout but Emma (or should I say the baby whisperer) took her time and allowed me to feed her whenever necessary.
The props and fabrics used were absolutely gorgeous and we got to choose from an array of colours that suited our own photograph needs and dreams. My favourite picture was captured of Belle surrounded by some of her first ever teddy bears.
We had the option of being included in the photos alongside Belle but we opted to just use her as our little model (one maternity Photoshoot was enough for my posing desires).
Emma completely understands the importance of keeping your baby warm throughout the outfit changes so has a little heater that she uses throughout. She is also amazing at cuddling and comforting your little one as they go about modelling oh so naturally.
I say oh so naturally because these are just effortless from the baby to the photographer. Have a look at just some of our beautiful shots below:

A week after the Photoshoot, Emma came back to our house to do the big gallery reveal. It was extremely moving watching all the images in a slideshow and choosing our favourites. We managed to get it down to a small handful of 20 and purchased the Ultimate package for £495 which included: 20 wall mounted 8×6 images, the whole gallery of images on a beautiful USB and any size wall block.
