Discover every tired parent’s guide to having more energy.
Parents can feel constantly tired. Having enough energy can feel like something that is a thing of the past, with broken sleep and then chasing around after a toddler each day. If you are one of the many parents who feels like they could just go straight to bed as soon as the children have, then it is time to do something about your energy levels.
Please note this is a collaboration post.
When you have young children, you can be physically exhausted but also mentally exhausted. There are a range of things that can help energy levels, with some less obvious things to consider, as well as standard practical ideas. Some small adjustments in how you do things each day can help to impact your energy levels rather quickly, so they are definitely worth a try.
Every tired parent’s guide to having more energy…
Learning to deal with stress
Managing stress can be quite similar to losing weight. If you put more in than you let out, then there will be surplus. This goes for stress management, because the more that you feel stressed, and the less that you do something about it, the surplus of stress you will have and it can add up and be detrimental to your energy levels (and overall health). That is why it is a good idea to look at your lifestyle and routine and see how you can deal with the stress that you feel. Having ‘me’ time is important, as well as something like exercise which can be a physical release.
See a chiropractor
There are a range of therapies that you can have, such as massage or even something like reflexology, that can help your health and energy levels. However, making an appointment with a chiropractor can make a difference to how you feel. This is because they help to care for any symptoms that you might have such as fatigue and lack of energy, as well as chronic pain, digestive problems, aches, and tingling.
Enjoy cat naps
Having a cat nap, which is a small ten to twenty-minute nap can be just what you need in the middle of the day when you’re feeling lethargic. A quick nap like that can give your body enough time to reboot, but it isn’t long enough to get into a deep sleep, which is when you can wake up feeling worse. If possible, if you’re at home with the children, try to fit this in each day so that you’re dealing with each day at a time, rather than feeling like you’re playing catchup all the time.
Eating well
When you feel tired it can be so tempting to just reach for the sugary foods that are going to give you a quick burst of energy. However, this is only temporary and can actually leave you feeling worse overall. Make sure that you enjoy a balanced and varied diet with foods that are not processed and in their pure and unrefined form. This can help greatly with energy levels. An apple is going to help you feel much better than a bag of sweets would.
