With the end of the academic year fast approaching thoughts start to turn to the seemingly compulsory thank you gift ideas for teachers. It has been a tough year for parents and teachers alike with the unprecedented perils of homeschooling and teaching via Zoom. Not to mention any of the catch-up work and re-capping that has taken place since pupils have returned to the classroom. So to mark the occasion and to show appreciation for the teachers’ efforts here are some gift ideas for the end of term.
Please note this is a collaboration post.
Flowers
Flowers have long been a welcomed gift by teachers. They look and smell amazing and what is great about them is that they can be personalised by the pupil for their teacher. Perhaps you have had a teacher who has gone above and beyond and you want to express your appreciation of the job they have done. Flowers come complete with a blank card to share your thoughts and personalise the gift.
Another great thing about flowers is that as some schools still aren’t accepting ‘hand ins’ from pupils, in light of the pandemic, you can make arrangements for a flower delivery to keep contact minimal but ensure your teacher gets the gift they deserve.

Gift Ideas for Teachers: Personalised stationery
It might not be your first thought but pens and pencils engraved with your teacher’s name are a great idea. Teachers get through tons of stationary across the academic year. Pens and pencils are used daily and often misplaced. To help ensure their stationary always works its way back to their classroom how about a pack of engraved pencils?
Planner
It may be the summer holidays but you can be sure the following term is never far from your teacher’s thoughts. Lesson planning, trips and activities will be racing through their brain for next year’s class. Give them somewhere to jot down their ideas or plan their lessons with a planner or diary.
Gift Ideas for Teachers: Personalised Prints
Take a look on Etsy for a plethora of handmade personal prints for teachers. Prints can celebrate the end of the year with a fancy list of the class members or they can be unique and carry personalised messages from pupil to teacher. They come in all shapes, sizes, designs and colours, the possibilities are endless when it comes to personalised prints.
A Lanyard
Teachers are always wearing lanyards, whether to hold their ID card or classroom key, you’ll be hard pushed to find a teacher without a lanyard. These can come in a variety of colours and designs and are a great original gift that won’t cost the earth but are likely to stand out from the crowd.
A DIY gift basket
Nothing shows the effort you have made like a personalised gift basket. They really showcase the thought process put into the gift but can be put together incredibly easy. You just need to buy a small basket or hamper and fill it with token gifts. Ideas for fillings can include chocolates, bath salts/bombs, jams, candles, stationery, books or any of the above. Dress it up with some shredded tissue paper to fill the gaps and delicate bow around the basket and you will have yourself a personal and professional looking gift.
